My POV on George Floyd and the BlackLivesMatter movement.
"I CAN'T BREATHE"
These were the last words from George Floyd. Murdered on the hands of a cop, Derek Chauvin, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Such a disgusting act of racial hate.
There's also such a HUGE debate on how did the events unfold, with such different opinions, including the actual offensive ones. But proof has been shown many times, many points, from different security cameras from the stores that witnessed the fateful event. This has caused a huge social blast all over the United States, because this isn't something new, there always had been racial discrimination and abuse of power coming from the police, racist or not. The protest wave did emerge in the city of the incident, then it quickly spread all over the country. Much of them ending in police brutality, riots, and looting.
It toke such long time to arrest all 4 polices involved in the incident, being one of the reasons people is really sick, tired, and of course, very angry. Massive arrests, and abuse of power are other of the reasons this is happening. And it is such a sad situation, looking a country with such cultural diversity and economy falling this down, due to racist and discriminative people.
But not everyone is a saint here. The protests should be completely peaceful, as they are when they start, without ending in violence and destruction. Damaging and stealing others properties isn't also a solution to this problem. But for certain group, mostly everyone pays for it. Especially the vulnerable ones on this situation, yeah, you know it, our black friends.
There is also this topic, that seems almost everyone has forgotten... yup. Social distancing, and all Coronavirus COVID-19 precautions. There might be groups that do actually take it, but there's always the minority that doesn't. And if there's one person infected, and that person is assisting to the protests, he/she/it is exposing all the people around him. This is such a huge public danger.
And finally, that group, that comes up with "WhiteLivesMatter", or "AllLivesMatter", etc. Come on gents, be adults. If you have 3 kids, and one of them is hurt or is in danger, will you attend all three simultaneously? Or would you give priority to the one that actually needs it? This is the case here.
All lives do matter, but the people that now screams for help is the black community. They didn't say, "Only black lives matter". As a white person, I'm ashamed to know there's such selfish people with no actual soul or any type of kindness. Be adults, be gents, and don't be selfish punks, if you're not the one in danger, if you're not getting humilliated for no reason.
This has been my POV in all this situation, I'm not intending to offend anyone, but this had to be issued. Feel free to share your thoughts about this situation, I'm looking forward to hear what you think about this.
